Dr. Robert Gero (1937-2013)
Ashot Ashkelon, 1989-2003, CEO and President
Dr. Gero (76), passed away on July 18th, 2013. Was born in Slovakia on June 17th, 1937.
He immigrated to Israel in 1968 to the city of Ashkelon and lived there since.
Dr. Gero served for 14 years as CEO and president of Ashot Ashkelon, he retired in 2003.
Prior to leading the company he worked as Ashot’s Chief Engineer. From his beginnings at the company as a metallurgist over 40 years ago, Dr. Gero rose through the ranks and garnered significant acclaim for his work. In 1996 he received a Life Achievement Award from the general manager of IMI.
